Google now tells users if there are below-average results for their query

Google new message

We have seen that Google is the most reliable search engine when it comes to addressing our queries, whatever they might be. There have been a lot of memes and jokes on the internet as to how you can literally get an answer to anything and everything on Google.

However, it is also seen that there are a handful of search terms that you will come across Google doesn’t have a relevant answer to. Still, Google will show you the best match according to them for that particular query and it is up to you if you find it useful or not.

But there has been a new update to Google’s search algorithm which now shows users a message saying “It looks like there aren’t any great matches for your search.” when it finds that the search results for the query entered by users is lower-than-average in terms of quality meaning that it is irrelevant. However, it will still provide results below the above message while cautioning users that results might be off-target.

Now, this is particularly strange from Google and something that would hurt the image of the search engine because people will now find a lot more of these notices which they will see as an error instead of a warning and look for the same query somewhere else rather than looking below the message to see if the results are actually relevant or no.

We feel that this is likely part of a smaller or even a broad algorithm update which we will come to know sometime in the future.

Google statement: “Starting today in the U.S., we’re rolling out a new message that lets you know when Google hasn’t been able to find anything that matches your search particularly well.

While you can still go through the results to see for yourself if they’re helpful, the message is a signal that we probably haven’t found what you’re looking for.”
