Google recently announced a core algorithm update, the May 2020 Core Update, that will be rolling out from today. The previous update that we got was earlier this year in the month of January.

Further, Google says “The May 2020 Core Update is now rolling out live. As is typical with these updates, it will typically take about one to two weeks to fully roll out.” So, it might take a while to see whether your search performance has been affected or not.

In the past, we have noticed a trend of Google continuously emphasizing on the mobile-first indexing, speed, content quality, and relevance. The goal is to provide users with the best results for their search queries.

However, there has been a transition in the nature of Google search as well due to COVID-19. The users have been associating everything to the current pandemic while they are searching the web. As this update is the first to roll out in the COVID-19 crisis, the SEOs and other experts have to study this one thoroughly as the search rankings can become volatile.

In order to maintain the current rankings of your site, it is recommended that you keep an eye on your Google Analytics and Google Search Console to monitor the performance and take the necessary actions. Further, it suggested that you check out what webmasters are required to know about Google’s core updates.
