Bing is a search engine which is owned, developed and maintained by Microsoft. We can also say that it is the closest competitor to Google Search that you can find on the internet. However, that is not to say that Bing and Google Search are actually close in terms of traffic. What we mean to say is that Google Search is miles ahead of Bing which comes a distant second in traffic and search results.

While we know that millions of webmasters use Google for their sites, we also know that it is always better to include your site on the Bing search engine. Since Google has no problem with it, Bing should be used by every publisher out there to gain some more traffic. Since we are talking about using Bing, the first step is to use the webmasters tool and we need to use the dashboard of Bing too.

For this reason and to encourage the use of its webmasters’ tools, Bing has just updated the same with a new design that adds some features too. Currently, Bing says that this new look will be available to a limited number of users. However, the new webmaster tools will be available to everyone by the first week of March.

During the announcement of its new tools, Bing acknowledges the user feedback that its “interface is slow and outdated”. Now, this is a bold move from the Bing team but since the interface has been updated, it makes sense as well. The thing to note is that Bing says this is just the “first iteration of the refreshed Bing Webmaster Tools portal.” This means that we will see more iterations of a redesigned look in the future based on user feedback. One thing we will like to add is that the refreshed look of this portal is similar to Google’s webmasters’ tools in many ways.
