Meta announces LlaMa, its large language model to compete with ChatGPT and Bard AI

You must be aware that ChatGPT is all the hype right now and people are going gaga over the integration of ChatGPT inside Bing: its public version will be released very soon too. Due to that, Google was also under pressure to release its Bard AI as soon as possible. We also saw an announcement as well as a preview from Google on its Bard AI inside Google Search but we are sure that its public implementation is still a few months away as Google is not known to rush things inside Google Search due to its usage by billions around the world.

In the meantime, Meta would have definitely felt left behind and that is the reason why it has also announced its Large Language Model named LlaMa which is a direct competitor to OpenAI’s ChatGPT as well as Google’s LamDa which is also a large language model. Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg says that LlaMa has been trained and will be released to researchers.

Zuckerberg, in his announcement, said “LLMs have shown a lot of promise in generating text, having conversations, summarizing written material, and more complicated tasks like solving math theorems or predicting protein structures,”. Meta also released a white paper showing the progress it has already made with the help of LlaMa which can be read here. Meta, meanwhile also took a dig at OpenAI and Google, while announcing that “Meta is committed to this open model of research and we’ll make our new model available to the AI research community,”. It is worth noting that both Google and OpenAI’s Large Language Models are not available to the public.

Mark Zuckerberg even said that he believes LLM will eventually solve mathematical problems as well as be able to conduct research. Talking about LlaMa, in context with Bing’s AI and Google’s Bard AI, it is still far behind but the fact that Meta has released it means that they are trying to get as many eyes on it as possible to make it better through the public testing. Eventually, we believe that LlaMa will be integrated into its own products.
