Samsung will redesign and expand Good Lock app globally via Google Play Store

Samsung’s popular Good Lock customization framework, which allows users to deeply personalize One UI without requiring root access or complex modifications, is set to undergo a significant expansion in 2025. Starting with the release of One UI 7, Good Lock will be available globally and accessible through the Google Play Store, addressing long-standing user requests for broader availability.

Good Lock has been a staple feature for Samsung users, offering advanced customization options to tweak everything from the Samsung launcher to enabling apps to run on the Galaxy Z Flip’s cover display. Previously, access to Good Lock was limited to certain regions and only available through the Galaxy Store, leaving many users unable to take advantage of its features.

In a forum post, Samsung confirmed that Good Lock will now be accessible in “all countries” alongside its rollout on the Google Play Store. A company representative stated:
“Starting with One UI 7.0, Good Lock can be downloaded from the Play Store as well as the Galaxy Store, and Good Lock can be used in all countries. This is something that many customers have been asking for, and we expect that this will provide more convenient accessibility to more Galaxy users.”

The news coincides with the broader launch of One UI 7, Samsung’s iteration of Android 15, which is currently in beta testing for the Galaxy S24 series and scheduled for a full release with the Galaxy S25 series later in January.

Samsung is also redesigning the Good Lock app to improve its user interface. According to the forum post, the updated app will feature a new layout aimed at enhancing convenience. This includes a filter for specific Good Lock modules and a “My Page” tab for better app management. Additionally, Samsung announced plans to update several Good Lock modules that are currently unavailable for One UI 7, ensuring compatibility with the latest software.

Good Lock’s global expansion and move to the Google Play Store mark a significant step in Samsung’s efforts to enhance accessibility and cater to the customization demands of its users. As One UI 7 rolls out, more Galaxy device owners will have the opportunity to unlock the full potential of their smartphones with Good Lock’s advanced tools and features.
