Facebook is one of the companies that is working to help people during the times of Coronavirus pandemic but it is also the time when the company needs to make more of its products available so that people can take advantage of the same. As we all know, these are the times when social distancing needs to be practised which means that people have to stay away from each other. Therefore, it is obvious that people will rely on video calling to meet others online be it for business purposes or just casual meet and greet.
Also, most of the people will have to use their laptops since they might not have their desktops which might be at the office or it is just because laptops are much more convenient. Therefore, we are here to tell you that Facebook has done something in response to the popularity of Zoom and Skype. Facebook has now launched a new standalone desktop app for Messenger which was not available previously. With this new app, you can interact with your Facebook friends without needing to go to the Messenger website or accessing it via Facebook’s website.
As far as Facebook Messenger for Desktop is concerned, the new app syncs call across devices, boasts unlimited free video and group calls, and supports GIFs and notifications. It also comes in Dark Mode which is what the Facebook website and Messenger’s website also supports.
The idea behind Messenger’s Desktop app release, as revealed by Messenger VP, is that “more than a 100% increase in people using their desktop browser for audio and video calling on Messenger.” He also added that “Now more than ever, people are using technology to stay in touch with the people they care about, even when physically apart.” This desktop app is available on the Mac App Store and Microsoft Store which means it is on Windows and macOS.
