Apple is gearing up to unveil its highly anticipated iPhone 17 lineup in September 2025, with the announcement likely to take place during the week of September 8, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. In his weekly Power On newsletter, Gurman noted Apple’s tendency to host major iPhone launch events on Tuesdays while avoiding September 11 out of respect. This points to Tuesday, September 9, or Wednesday, September 10, as the most probable dates for the keynote.

The iPhone 17 series is expected to feature four models: the standard iPhone 17, a new ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air, the iPhone 17 Pro, and the high-end iPhone 17 Pro Max. All models are poised to receive significant upgrades in performance, display size, and camera capabilities.

Under the hood, the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air will reportedly be powered by Apple’s new A19 chip, while the Pro and Pro Max versions will run on the more powerful A19 Pro. Both chips are said to be built on TSMC’s advanced 3nm process (N3P), ensuring better efficiency and performance. Memory will also see a boost, with the iPhone 17 getting 8GB of RAM and the other models receiving 12GB, potentially enhancing multitasking and enabling smoother performance for Apple Intelligence features.

Display sizes across the lineup are being adjusted: the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro are expected to feature 6.3-inch screens, up from 6.1 inches, while the iPhone 17 Air will sport a 6.7-inch display. The Pro Max will reportedly boast Apple’s largest iPhone screen yet at 6.9 inches.

Camera upgrades are another major highlight. The iPhone 17 and 17 Pro Max models are expected to include a 24 MP front camera. The Pro and Pro Max may also feature triple 48 MP sensors covering the Wide, Ultra-wide, and Telephoto lenses—a first for any iPhone. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Air will come with a single 48 MP rear camera, the same sensor used in the iPhone 16.

Battery life is expected to improve, especially on the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which is rumored to house a 5000 mAh battery—marking the largest battery ever in an iPhone. Other expected capacities include 3600 mAh for the iPhone 17, 3700 mAh for the Pro, and a compact 2800 mAh for the Air.

If the rumors hold true, the iPhone 17 series could represent one of Apple’s most ambitious hardware refreshes in years.
