Apple is gearing up for a major announcement at “It’s Glowtime” event, with Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman revealing that new models of the AirPods Max will be introduced. This marks the first refresh of Apple’s high-end over-ear headphones since their original debut in December 2020. The new AirPods Max are expected to bring significant enhancements including improved noise cancellation, adaptive audio features, and a switch to USB-C connectivity.

Gurman’s late-night tweet has shifted expectations, as earlier indications suggested that no new AirPods Max models would be revealed at the upcoming iPhone keynote. However, it appears that Apple has decided to surprise consumers by introducing updated versions of its premium headphones alongside the new AirPods 4 models.

The AirPods Max, which were first introduced with a starting price of $549, have remained largely unchanged since their launch. While the headphones have been praised for their audio quality, they have lagged behind in features compared to the newer AirPods Pro, which have seen updates over time. The introduction of better noise cancellation and adaptive audio in the new AirPods Max is expected to address some of these shortcomings and align the headphones more closely with the capabilities of Apple’s latest audio technology.

The transition to USB-C is another notable update, aligning the AirPods Max with the growing trend towards universal charging solutions and providing a potential boost in convenience for users who have already adopted USB-C devices.

Despite these improvements, there is still speculation regarding changes to the design and color options of the AirPods Max. As of now, there are no confirmed details about whether Apple will offer new colors or make other aesthetic adjustments to the headphones.

Additionally, while the new AirPods Max and AirPods 4 are set to be highlighted at the event, updates to the AirPods Pro are not anticipated. This leaves fans of Apple’s more compact in-ear headphones waiting for further developments at a later date. It is worth noting that the major headlines at this event will be captured by the announcement of iPhone 16 series which will be similar to last year’s iPhone with some minor improvements here and there as always.
