Samsung is preparing to unveil its highly anticipated Galaxy S25 lineup, which will include the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and the flagship Galaxy S25 Ultra. According to recent reports, the official announcement for these devices is scheduled for January 22, with the public launch slated for February 7, 2024.
Although Samsung has not yet confirmed the release dates, a report from FNNews suggests that the timing will be in line with previous Galaxy S releases. Last year, the Galaxy S24 series was announced on January 17 and released by January 31. With the S25 lineup, Samsung is expected to follow a similar schedule, opening pre-orders shortly after the announcement and giving users the chance to reserve their devices ahead of time.
As with previous releases, Samsung is expected to offer attractive pre-order incentives, including discounts and potential trade-in options. These promotions could help Samsung mitigate customer resistance to potential price increases for the new devices, as the company faces growing competition from Apple and Google in the premium smartphone market.
The Galaxy S25 series is expected to feature significant upgrades in performance and design, with a particular focus on competing with Apple’s iPhone 17 lineup, which is expected to launch around the same time. The S25 Ultra, in particular, will go head-to-head with the iPhone 17 Pro, both in terms of hardware and software capabilities. The Galaxy S25 devices are expected to run on the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chips, alongside One UI 7, which should deliver a competitive edge against Apple’s A18 Pro chip and the iOS 18 operating system.
In addition to the S25, Samsung is rumored to be working on a new “Slim” model, which could take on the iPhone 17 Air. However, sources indicate that the Galaxy S25 Slim will not be announced alongside the standard S25 series. Instead, Samsung is expected to debut the slim variant at a dedicated event later in the year.
While Samsung faces challenges in terms of pricing, especially with its reliance on third-party suppliers for key components, the company is positioning the Galaxy S25 series as a direct competitor to Apple’s flagship devices, the iPhone 16 series, released in fall this year.
