Alphabet Inc.’s Google has announced an August 20 launch event in New York, where the company is set to debut its next generation of Pixel-branded hardware.
The lineup will include four new smartphones and the Pixel Watch 4, all featuring Google’s latest advancements in artificial intelligence and powered by the company’s new in-house processor.
This year’s smartphone reveal will feature the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold: Google’s second-generation foldable phone.
The foldable is expected to be a more budget-friendly alternative to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, which launches just weeks earlier on July 25 at $2,000.
While the Pixel Fold may not match Samsung’s ultra-thin design, it will aim to compete with unique AI-driven features and tighter software integration.
All Pixel 10 devices will be powered by the new Tensor G5 chip, manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. This marks a notable shift from Google’s previous reliance on Samsung for chip fabrication, and could signal a push toward greater performance and efficiency.
Though the hardware may look familiar, with designs closely mirroring last year’s Pixel 9 series, the internals and software are getting key upgrades.
The devices will ship with Android 16, along with a refreshed and bolder user interface that Google first previewed at its developer conference in May.
The new OS is also expected to deepen integration with Gemini AI, bringing smarter camera tools, real-time assistance, and on-device generative features to everyday tasks.
Joining the phones will be the Pixel Watch 4, the latest version of Google’s flagship smartwatch. While details remain under wraps, it’s expected to offer improved battery life, more fitness features, and enhanced AI-powered notifications and health insights.
This is the second year Google is hosting its “Made by Google” event in August, strategically timed to build hype before Apple’s annual iPhone launch in September.
Though Google’s U.S. smartphone market share remains modest compared to Apple and Samsung, its Pixel phones continue to gain traction among tech enthusiasts due to their camera quality, stock Android experience, and early access to software updates.
The August 20 event will likely serve as Google’s most ambitious hardware showcase to date, positioning its devices as not just phones or watches, but AI-first tools built to compete in a rapidly evolving mobile landscape.
