Daniel Chidiac is an Australian author most well known for writing The Modern Break-Up. Today he speaks exclusively to FlipWeb on how he got his start and advice for aspiring authors looking to follow in his footsteps.
You are the Author of The Modern Break-Up Book, a bestselling book for anyone dating in today’s ever changing modern world. Please tell us more about your background and how you formulated the idea of this book. Where does your drive come from and what do you enjoy about being an author?
My drive initially came from wanting to show people the awakening I went through in order to help them. I wanted them to find the power to create their life the way I had discovered it.
What advice do you have for new authors?
Just write. Don’t worry if you are writing “correctly”or not. Don’t worry about the grammar in the initial stages or the structure. Write what you think and feel without wondering whether anyone will like it or not. Be you!
Now that you are an established author with one of your books published in over 13 languages and having over 500000 followers. What do you think a reader looks for in one of your upcoming books?
I think they look for words that won’t sugar-coat how they think or feel. They look to connect with my work, hopefully, because it’s relatable and real. My desire is to continue doing that, with less filters every time. I believe that’s what makes great art…when you can share what you feel inside to the outside in the purest form you can.
If you could go back to your younger self, what advice would you give yourself?
No matter what you are going through, it’s all going to work out in the end.
